Meeting a Friend

You know there is nothing like meeting a friend or a dear one in person and sharing whatever you feel like with that other person. It's just wonderful. Nothing in the world can replace a face to face meeting, just nothing. I value reltaionships a lot, I mean a lot. Whenever I get an opportunity, I would prefer meeting my friends. I mean is there anything else that is important, I doubt.

I love meeting my friends and chatting over things. I have read so many articles in newspapers where people say how we are becoming lonely day by day even though we have 1,000 virtual friends or followers. Everyday people are adding friends but don't know why they are adding them. If I cannot meet my friends, I just love to call them and speak. No sms business for me.

Facebook - The Real Mark Zuckerberg

On 20th May, 2012 I watched a program on Fox History Channel titled, "Mark Zuckerberg The Real Face behind Facebook"

After I watched this 1 hour program, I am really kind of not happy with the way FB is working. It may be the privacy issues or with the way Mark handles things. Trust me after seeing the videos you may be little apprehensive about how you use FB and what information you share on it. I tried searching for that program on the internet and youtube, but could not find it. Instead I found some videos on Youtube which were shown in that program and are worth watching.

I Give Up

I give up, yes I do. You know some relations are difficult to maintain. At least for me it is. I refer to those relations where the other person is more interested in what's happening on the virtual than in real life. They are the busy people who have time to meet their virtual friends than their real ones. The real ones are taken for granted the virtual ones are their life. It's a pity world, where more things are happening for wrong reasons than for right reasons.

Why Are We So Busy…??

It is so annoying. Why are we so busy…?? Are we seriously so busy or just pretending to be one. One of my friends posted this status message on FB, “Is it the friends that i have who don't respond or is it me whom they avoid responding to…?? Reading this message and my own experiences (even now I am experiencing it and I am very sure in future also I will) got me thinking. I thought, why are we so freaking busy…?? Can’t we just reply to an SMS or a call from a dear one? I have come across people who have, the so called “Smart Phone” but they just don’t reply back. For me it’s terrible. It is sick. I do follow what I mean and make sure that I do reply to every call or an SMS even though I am busy. I guess those people really understood (or rather misunderstood) the meaning of Smart Phones, where you can use it not only to call or message but also to browse the net, update your Facebook status, write something on twitter, check out what’s new (like Google +), poke someone (obviously not literally when you are a Smart phone user). The main objective of Smart Phones and FB is to Stay Connected in addition to being physically connected and not to replace our physical connection.

Virtual World to Virtual Relationships....??

We all live in this connected or linking world of Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and so on. An author by name Daniel Goleman has written a book titled, “Social Intelligence: The New Science of Social Relationships” In that book, he has explained all about social relationships and how today’s social networking has impacted our lives. I have not read his book, but got to know through an interview on TV. I want to focus mainly on the impact of FB on all of us as I use it regularly. I don’t use Google+ and rarely use twitter, so it’s better not to comment on things which I don’t use it.

Ever Wondered Why...??

Ever wondered, why don’t we see a Facebook or Google or Netscape or Youtube kind of startups taking place in India? Even if something similar is there, it may not be as big as Facebook or Google. Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft said, “Indians are the smartest people on earth.” This question has always intrigued me. So, why we can’t see an Indian coming up with a great start up venture. Is it our education the restriction? Is it because we don’t have Universities like Harvard and Stanford? Does a place where the business is started, makes a difference? But we have IITs and IIMs where some of the smartest people study.

One Good reason to Live

I didn’t want to right about this, but felt compelled to do so. First I read about this on Chintan’s blog (http://chintangupta.blogspot.com/2011/09/freedom-with-price-tag.html) and via web got to know some more details. Then like all other things, this also faded away as one of those cases of suicide. But recently I read an article in newspaper then I started to think, what could have been the actual reason for people to commit suicide…?? There has to be something else, much more severe and depressing thought to commit suicide. A girl who went to IIT and IIM can’t be so stupid or dumb to commit suicide just because her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend posted a message on Facebook. Here I am referring not only to Malini’s case but trying to find the actual reason for all those suicides.
This is not the first time this has happened. You hear and see many people well qualified, well settled, financially happy…….commit suicide. So there has to be a strong compelling reason. In many cases or in almost all cases, something worst is already happening in a person’s life. A trigger is all that is required to take that drastic step. Like in Malini’s case, that facebook message might have been the trigger. But the problem is, now it’s difficult to find out, since she is not alive. (R.I.P)
Recently, a girl was expecting 95% result in her exam, but got 85%. So she committed suicide. Trust me, 85% is not bad. But the point is, Was the result the main reason for her to commit suicide…?? There might be other things like peer pressure, parents & teachers expectations, depression..…god only knows what else. May be it was too much for her to handle and thought it’s best to end her life. Her less than expected result became a triggering point.
It’s difficult for me to understand or accept the fact that people commit suicide for such simple reasons or maybe it was not simple for them….well I don’t know. So instead of just blaming Facebook (in Malini’s case) or something else, I guess we need to understand that there is much deeper reason. I end this blog with the same thoughts with which I started it, more questions and no conclusive answers.
“I hope people find one good reason to live rather than one bad reason to not to live.”
