Hey YOU, Soak No More In Others

Satisfy means, "to fulfill the desires, expectations, needs, or demands of a person, the mind, etc." (From Dictionary.com website)

These days when we hear the word Satisfy, it kind of gives a negative impression or at least an indication about the negativity in our minds. Considering the amount of cut throat competition we have today, everyone is stressed and each one of us is trying to satisfy someone or the other. Satisfying others is not such a bad thing, but when we do so at the cost of our happiness, our own self, we feel defeated, depressed and let down all the time. There is a long list of people whom we try to satisfy by not being able to live up to their expectations like colleagues, friends, relatives, strangers and whom not. But in the process of doing so, we forget to satisfy those who make a big difference to our lives. Everyone of us have this one statement that keeps striking our mind at some point of time and for some as a regular feature, "I am tired of satisfying others, enough is enough, it's my Life and I want to live it my way. Let others think what they want to."

There are only 3 people in this whole world we all need to satisfy. They are a part of our lives and we interact with them day in day out. These people are not jealous of our success nor pull us down when we don't live up to their expectations. These days it's difficult to live our lives the way we want, because we live in a thing called, 'Society' where our daily life is dependent on so many things that we hardly get time for our loved ones or for ourselves. Some are lucky who are able to live their life as they want to, but not others because we are all the bound by the so called societal norms, traditions, living standards and what not. Wondering who are those 3 people whom I am talking about, well here they are:

Someone Above:
There is someone above who knows you in and out. He is the only one who knows more about you than you know about yourself. He is the creator. Some call him 'God', some call him 'The Supreme Power' and some others 'The Almighty'. Of all the people, you can satisfy him easily. No matter with what name you call him with but he is the one person whom we always turn to at times of difficulty. Yet we fail to thank him regularly when something good happens to us. Even though we may lose faith in him, but he never loses faith in us. He shows us various ways and means to understand things about Life. We scold him, yet he accepts us with love and compassion. He knows our innermost feelings and the dark secrets which we all have.
Soak yourself in his company,
For he never says no to anyone
Soak your mistakes in him,
And he will always forgive you
Soak your prayers in him,
And he will listen to each one of them
Soak No More when he makes your life hard,
Because, of all the millions who die every day,
You have been given a Life to live for.

Parents:
Yes, they are the reason for us to come into this beautiful world. They guide us, nurture us, teach us things, make us understand things, reduce our pain and gift us the life which we thought otherwise would be difficult. We do fight with them, we do scold them but beneath that everything, there is an underlying love as solid as a rock. We take them for granted so many times because we have taken for granted their love, care, sacrifice and selfless commitment. Somewhere we fail to thank them for what they have made us today. Their love is unparalleled. No matter how much we fight with them they are always there for us when we need them. If you want to see a living God, they are the one. If everyone has a reason to love you, they don't.
Soak yourself in their love,
And you will be relieved of the pain
Soak your feelings in them,
And see how much they Care
Soak your tears in them,
And they make your every tear drop worth it
They Soak No More in giving the best to us,
Without expecting anything in return.

YOU:
Yes, it is you and it's all about you. Among the 3 people to satisfy, the most important one to satisfy is YOU. No matter whoever you are, whatever you are, wherever you are and however you are, when it comes to you, it's all about YOU. Before you can satisfy someone else, including the above two, you need to satisfy yourself first. When you can't live up to what you aspire for then no way can you make them happy. The beautiful YOU has gone missing somewhere and it's time to reclaim it back. None matter when it comes to you. "When was the last time you did something truly to satisfy the 'REAL YOU'?

Soak No More,
In the hatred of others,
In the opinion of others,
In the negativity of thoughts
Get Soaked in the Positivity of your thoughts,
for there is only One life to live for
Soak No More in the emptiness of the Broken Heart,
And allow it to bring the much needed happiness.

I would like to conclude by saying, "Soak No More in trying to satisfy the Dreams and Aspirations of others, because when Death comes knocking even your own shadow will not follow YOU."

Prashanth

    1. Thanks for feedback and good luck to you also..:) What I have explained here is on the basis of my observation and my own experience. Satisfying oneself doesn't mean being selfish but giving more importance to oneself. Atleast that is what I have experienced recently.

Forget about appreciating, people don't even acknowledge you giving your time for them. Through this contest was able to express what I wanted to for some time now..:)

    2. People don't appreciate, in fact, they just behave as if nothing has happened. Good that for a contest entry you shared your experiences with us and that too very beautifully.:)

  8. A different perspective to the concept to SOAK, Prashanth. And a great one too! You've aptly mentioned God, Parents and self as the 3 most important entities in our lives.. And yes, caring about oneself is not being selfish as long as oneself is the only one you care about.. :)

All the best for the contest buddy..

    1. Thanks Binu. I had this thought and this Soak No More thing fits perfectly for this one. So just penned down my thoughts. If we don't care for ourselves first, then we would not be in a position to care for others with the same love and affection. All the best to you too...:)
